VENDVIDÉK
The Kiverskies lived in a small, but strictly controlled village on the Hungarian-Austrian border, called Alsőszölnök. All the family members managed to survive World War II. In early March of 1951, on a moonlit night Mária Kiversky, her 8-year-old daughter and her lover Captain Szűcs decided to escape the country - into the Unknown.
In the film we are attempting to understand how the family was able to cope with the disappearance of their relatives, how they remember the escape, the deportation and how these events affected the next generations’ lives in Hungary and Australia.
